Addressable LED Controller and LED Strip

This Digital-LED strip has a chip for each LED, to use the strip you have to send digitally coded data to the chips, this means you can control each LED individually, its color, effect. Currently there are nine quick plus colors, brightness control and white LED Colors. Additional colors can be created with the 3 Potentiometers to form many different colors.
The remote wired potentiometer can control the effect and speed of the pre-programmed effect. There are 5 pre programmed effects to choose from and many more can be custom programmed into the controller. Contact BPE for details.

This control board was design to allow the control of a single RGB LED strip that is based on the LDB8806 RGB LED control chip. The control wires from the strip are attached to the 2-position terminal strip on the board. The power wires are connected on board to wire terminal block and a 5V power supply capable of providing 2A per 32 LEDs (1 meter) in the strip. Power to the control board is 9VDC 100 mA. Note : Custom control modifications are available to reflect the number of LEDs in the strip. As it is shipped, it will be set at 32 (1 meter). if more strips are to be attached contact BPE for details.

Operation:
This board will light up single or groups of LEDs on the strip, and run them up and down the strip in response to turning a remotely connected Control Potentiometer. The color and brightness can be adjusted using the 3 RGB potentiometers on the board to give you a wide variety of colors.

There are 32 RGB LEDs per meter, and you can control each LED individually! You can set the color of each LED's red, green and blue component with 7-bit PWM precision (so 21-bit color per pixel). The LEDs are controlled by shift-registers that are chained up down the strip so you can shorten or lengthen the strip. Only 2 digital output pins are required to send data down. The PWM is built into each chip so once you set the color you can stop talking to the strip and it will continue to PWM all the LEDs for you.
The strip is made of flexible PCB material, and comes with a waterproof sheathing. You can cut easily with wire cutters, there are cut-lines every 2.5"/6.2cm (2 LEDs each). Solder to the 0.1" copper pads you lead wires, or connect strips together to make them longer.

4- Channel Driver Effects Board

This board was designed to control 1-4 LED/ Fiber optic channels (user provided). There are 4 modes of operation. (1) Programmable, (2) Sequential ­ Timed, (3) Sequential ­ Triggered and (4) Random.

The user will be able to enter values for mode parameters via a menu-driven LCD that is attached to the main board by a 6' ribbon cable. All parameters are stored in non-volatile memory. Once the user has programmed in all parameters, they have the option of having the board go directly to running one of the modes upon board power-up.

Power to the board is via the 2.1 mm barrel connector or the adjacent terminal block. Playback is triggered by either pressing the Enter button or by dry contact closure at the remote trigger terminal. When the board is triggered to start playback, a 80 mS Sync Pulse is present at the Sync terminal.

Application and Setup Overview

Tri-Color LED 8-Channel FX Controller

This unique board will control eight Bi-Color LED's and effects.

There are 3 modes of operation that can be selected. In Mode 1, the LED's are strobed on and off. In Mode 2, the LED's are faded on and off. In Mode 3, the LED's are either full on or off. The color of the LED's is selected by dry contact closure of the Remote Green LED Trigger or the Remote Red LED Trigger terminals. There is also an on-board pushbutton that can be used to select the LED color. In Modes 1 and 2, when both triggers are activated simultaneously, the colors jump back and forth (Red / Green). In Modes 1 and 2, the rates of strobing or fading can be adjusted by using the Mode 1 or Mode 2 speed potentiometers. The rates at which the colors jump back and forth in Modes 1 and 2 is determined by the on-board potentiometers

16- FX LED Controller

This unique board will allow the control of eight channels of remote DC lights (LED or incandescent) in 16 different lighting effects. Each channel is capable of driving up to 200 mA of lighting. An on-board LED for each channel indicates that the channel is active. A 16-Position Mode Selection switch allows the user to select which sequence will be active. The selected sequence will begin immediately upon power-up and will continue until the power is removed from the board. There are 2 potentiometers on the board that allow the user to control the rate of the selected sequence.
The board has an on-board On/Off switch and a terminal block that allows the connection of a remote On/Off switch. Power can be supplied to the board via the 2.1mm power connector or the adjacent terminal block. Power should be provided that is sufficient to drive the board and all of the eight light channels (~2A max). There are 2 SS relays on the board that activate as soon as power is supplied to the board also for driving sound effect boards, or controller boards.

Special Effect Operation:
Mode 1 ­ Marquee A:
All channels start off. Channels 1 through 8 will then light up in sequence until all 8 channels are lit. Then all channels go off and then repeats.
Mode 2 ­ Marquee B: All channels start off. Channels 8 through 1 will then light up in sequence until all 8 channels are lit. Then all channels go off and then repeats (reverse of Mode 1).
Mode 3 ­ Marquee C: All channels start on. Then channels 1 through 8 will go off in sequence until all channels are off and then repeat.
Mode 4 ­ Marquee D: All channels start on. Then channels 8 through 1 will go off in sequence until all channels are off and then repeat (reverse of Mode 3).
Mode 5 ­ Cylon Effect: A single channel rasters back and forth.
Mode 6 ­ Reverse Cylon Effect: All channels are on with one channel being off that rasters back and forth (reverse of Mode 5).
Mode 7 ­ Knight Rider: All channels start off. Channels come on starting at channel 1 going to channel 8. When all channels are on, the channels begin turning off starting at channel 8 going down to channel 1.
Mode 8 ­ Strobe All: All channels strobe on and off in unison.
Mode 9 ­ Fade All: All channels will fade on and off in unison.
Mode 10 ­ Random Flash: Channels will flash randomly.
Mode 11 ­ Random Fade: Channels will randomly fade on and off.
Mode 12 ­ Heart Beat: All Channels will flash like a heartbeat. Rate Pot 1 will control the time between the 2 short flashes and Rate Pot 2 will control the overall rate of the heartbeat.
Mode 13 ­ Railroad Crossing Signal: Channels 1 ­ 4 and channels 5 ­ 8 will flash alternately.
Mode 14 ­ R2D2: Channels 1 ­ 4 will flash in unison at a rate controlled by Rate Pot 1. Channels 5 ­ 8 will flash in unison at a rate controlled by Rate Pot 2.
Mode 15 ­ Fireworks: Channels 1 through 7 will fade up and down in sequence. Then channel 8 will flash twice. Rate Pot 1 controls the rate of channel 1 ­ 7 and Rate Pot 2 controls the rate of the 2 flashes on channel 8.
Mode 16 ­ All On: All Channels on continuously.

RC lighting

Radio Controller Receiver LED Effects Board

This unique board will allow use of a RC joystick or any wizard board servo output to control eight channels of remote DC lights (LED or incandescent) in 2 different sequences. Each channel is capable of driving up to 200 mA of lighting. An on-board LED for each channel indicates that the channel is active. Two on-board SS relays ­ one for each sequence - will also activate depending on which sequence is selected. A Mode Selection Switch will allow the user to toggle between Momentary On or Toggle On/Off modes. For example, with the Mode switched to Mode 1 (Momentary On), when the RC joystick is tilted to the left, Sequence 1 will start and Relay 1 will activate. Sequence 1 and Relay 1 will continue to be active as long as the joystick stays in the left position. When the joystick is in the center position, neither sequence will be selected. In Mode 2 (Toggle On/Off), when the joystick is tilted to the left and then returned to the center position, Sequence 1 will start and Relay 1 will activate. The sequence will continue and the relay will stay activated as long as the joystick remains in the center position. To stop this sequence, the user must tilt the joystick to the left a second time, toggling the sequence off. The same applies for Sequence 2. There are 2 potentiometers on board, one for each sequence that allows the user to control the rate of each sequence. The board has an on-board On/Off switch. Power to the board is supplied by the 5V line of the RC Servo connection and should have sufficient current to drive the board and all of the eight light channels (~2A max).

Sequence 1 ­ Cylon Effect:
When the Joystick is tilted to the left, Relay 1 actuates and a single channel rasters back and forth. Rate 1 Potentiometers will control the rate of the rastering.

Sequence 2 ­ Strobe:
When the Joystick is tilted to the right, Relay 2 actuates and all channels strobe on and off in unison. Rate 2 Potentiometer will control the rate of the channel strobing.

RGB LED / LED Strip Driver

Unique board will control 3 LED light strips ­ one red, one green and one blue or 1 RGB LED Strip ­ in several modes which are selected by providing a dry contact closure at any of the Mode Selection terminal blocks or by pressing the associated mini tactile switch. This interaction can occur at the main board or at the remote board that is attached to the main board via 6' ribbon cable. There are 2 pots on the main board that will control the on time and off time of the LED strips for those modes where the strips will flash. These on / off times can range from 10 mS to 6 seconds. There is a red, green and a blue LED on the main board that will indicate when that channel is active. The LED strips are connected to the main board via the 4-position terminal block.

Note: Modes 1, 2 and/or 3 can be operated at the same, giving different color washes.

Mode 6 ­ All 3 channels flash on and off together (=White) at rates determined by the On and Off Time pots.
Mode 7 ­ This mode works in conjunction with Modes 1, 2 and 3. When this mode is selected and any of the Modes 1, 2 and/or 3 are activated, the result will be that the selected channels will flash at rates determined by the On and Off Time pots.
Mode 8 ­ The 3 channels are flashed in random order at rates determined by the On and Off Time pots.

15 - Effects LED Control Board
(100 mAmp Output)

This Microprocessor controlled board was designed to produce 15 different light effects via 2 Bi-Color LED's. A shadow moving across a CDS cell will trigger the selected effect. Once triggered, the effect will last for a period of time determined by the Cycle Time Potentiometer which can be up to 30 seconds long. The rate at which the effect occurs (i.e., flashing, fading) is determined by the Rate Potentiometer. Every time an effect is triggered, a 80 mS pulse occurs at the Synch Output terminal block. This can be used to trigger another board. All connections to the board are through small daughter boards. The board requires a 7.5 to 24V DC, 100 mA power supply.

Mode 1: Two LED's will strobe RED when activated.
Mode 2: Two LED's will strobe GREEN when activated.
Mode 3: Two LED's will fade RED up and down.
Mode 4: Two LED's will fade GREEN up and down.
Mode 5: One LED will strobe GREEN and the other will strobe RED.
Mode 6: One LED will fade up and down GREEN and the other LED will fade up and down RED.
Mode 7: LED's will alternate strobing RED
Mode 8: LED's will alternate strobing GREEN.
Mode 9: LED's will alternate strobing RED and then GREEN.
Mode 10: One LED will strobe RED while the other LED fades up and down GREEN.
Mode 11: LED's will fade up RED and then stay on for one minute and then fade down.
Mode 12: Both LED's will come on RED, stay on for the set Cycle Time, then flash 3 times, stay on for another Cycle Time and then go off.
Mode 13: Both LED's will come on GREEN, stay on for the set Cycle Time, then flash 3 times, stay on for another Cycle Time and then go off.
Mode 14: LED's fade up RED, then fade to ORANGE, then to GREEN and then fades off.
Mode 15: One LED fades up RED, then fades to ORANGE, then to GREEN and then fades off while the other fades up GREEN, then fades to ORANGE, then to RED and then fades off.
Mode 16: In this mode, each time the board is triggered, it cycles through each of the 15 modes one at a time.

Sound Activated LED / Solenoid Driver Board

Board accepts audio input from any non-amplified sound source (computer, CD player, or Digital Sound Board) and activates a Solid State Relay ON and OFF in sync with the incoming audio signal. The on-board 1 Amp Solid State Relay can be connected to any device using (3-60 Vdc @ 1 Amp power). Common application include driving a pneumatic solenoid valve, water valve to sound or operating large bank of LED's -DC lighting to the incoming sound.

There is an on-board potentiometer that is used to adjust the sensitivity to the incoming sound. The board has a 1/8" phono jacks for input that can be switched as a left or right audio input signal for more precision audio sync to incoming sound signal track.

An on board LED indicates when the 1 Amp Solid State Relay is activated. Relay has wire terminal block contacts for connecting directly to device / load and quick connect power jack or wire terminal block for device power input.

Board can operate devices requiring 5-24 VDC at 1 Amp load.
Board uses two power inputs, one for the on-board electronics and another for the solenoid valve. (9-12 Board Power, 5-24Vdc Load Power)

5- Channel LED Strobe / Fade Driver Board

This unique setup was designed to allow the independent control Strobe / Fade of 5 groups of LED's. ( Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, White or any mixed combination of colors) The LED's can either be connected to the Main board by wire terminal blocks or the Remote board which is attached to the Main board via a 4-foot ribbon cable. The LED's can either be set to strobe or fade using the associated slide switch. Each LED out put channel is independent, so some channels can Fade up and down other Strobe, what ever combination is needed. The rate at which the LED's fade or strobe is set by the associated pot for each channel. The Remote board has holes pre-drilled on the board that the LED current-limiting resistors can be soldered into. Either 1/4W or 1/2W resistors can be uses. Note: user will have to provide the appropriate current-limiting resistor for the number and type of LED's attached to each channel.
Driver Board can operate 16 Standard 5mm LED's per channel, or several LED strips per channel.

This unique controller was designed to control 10 externally connected LEDs, LED Strips or Lights in one of 8 modes (patterns) by Remote Control. For the patterns that have adjustable times, the rate at which the patterns run is set by the Rate Pot located on the Remote Switch Board. Power to the board (Battery) is connected via the 2.1mm barrel connector or via the adjacent 2-position terminal block, Power to the board is turned on and off by either the small power switch or a remote switch attached to the Remote Switch terminal block. There are on-board LEDs that indicate when each channel is active. The modes are selected by manually pressing the appropriate Mode Switch on the Remote Switch Board that is connected to the Main Board via a 6 foot ribbon cable, or this can also be connected to an optional RF Wireless Transmitter and Receiver set, a DMX Wireless Controller, Stage Control Console, or operated by Off Stage Director / Dance Cordinator. Once a mode is selected, it will remain selected even if power is cycled to the board.

Modes:
There are 8 modes available. Note: Other custome routines can be programmed by BPE into this controller. Contact BPE for informatiion.

The current modes are as follows:

Mode 1 ­ All Off
All channels are off.
Mode 2 ­ All On
All channels are on constantly. Note: Do not drive more than 2A max total in this mode.

If using the Remote Switch, the on-board power switch must be in the off position. There are on-board LEDs that indicate when each channel is active, and show the effect routine. Effect Modes:
There are 16 modes selectable by the Mode Switch.

Mode 1 ­ All On - Test
All channels are on constantly. Note: Do not drive more than 2A max total in this mode.
Mode 2 ­ Random 1-5 then Random 6-10
A channel between 1 and 5 is selected at random which will remain on for X seconds. Then, a channel between 6 and 10 is selected at random which will remain on for X seconds. Cycle will then repeat.
The X rate time is determined by the on board Rate Potentiometer.
Mode 3 ­ Random 1 - 10
A channel between 1 and 10 is selected at random which will remain on for 8 seconds then repeat.
Mode 4 ­ Strobe
All channels flash on and off continuously at a rate determined by the Rate Potentiometer.
Mode 5 ­ Cylon
Channels flash from 1 ­ 10 and then 10 to 1, back and forth continuously at a rate determined by the Rate Potentiometer.
Mode 6 ­ Marquee Right to Left

Mode 11 ­ Step Up
Channels step up 1 ­ 10. Each channel will come on for 4 seconds and then go off for 2 seconds before moving to next channel.
Mode 12 ­ Group A/B Strobe
Channels 1 ­ 5 flash once, wait 3 seconds and then channels 6 ­ 10 flash once and wait 3 seconds. Cycle repeats.
Mode 13 ­ LED Count Up
Channels come on one at a time at 2 second intervals until all 10 channels are on. Cycle then repeats.
Mode 14 ­ Knight Rider Effect
Channels raster 5 ­ 1 and 6 ­ 10 repeatedly at a rate determined by the Rate potentiometer.
Mode 15 ­ Speed Up
Channels 1 ­ 10 raster at a slow rate (starting at approx 1 second) and then increase in speed until very fast. Once at fastest speed, wait for 8 seconds and then repeat.
Mode 16 ­ Slow Down
Channels 1 ­ 10 raster at a fast rate and then decrease in speed until very slow. Once at slowest speed, wait for ~8 seconds and then repeat.

4 Channel 16- LED Effects Driver Board


This board was designed to control 4 externally connected DC lights (or LEDs) in one of 16 modes (patterns). For the patterns that have adjustable times, the rate at which the patterns run is set by an on-board potentiometer.
The modes are as follows:

Mode 1 ­ All On
All channels are on constantly. Note: Do not drive more than 2A max total in this mode.
Mode 2 ­ Random Flash
A channel between 1 and 4 is selected at random which will come on for 2 seconds and then off for 2 seconds then next channel is selected.
Mode 3 ­ Random 1 - 4
A channel between 1 and 4 is selected at random which will remain on for 5 seconds, off 5 seconds and then another channel is selected.
Mode 4 ­ Strobe
All channels flash on and off continuously at a rate determined by the Rate Pot.
Mode 5 ­ Cylon
Channels flash from 1 ­ 4 and then 4 to 1, back and forth continuously at a rate determined by the Rate Pot.
Mode 6 ­ Marquee Right to Left
Channels cycle on and off, one at a time from right to left at a rate determined by the Rate Pot.
Mode 7 ­ Railroad Crossing Flasher
Channels 1 ­ 2 will flash on and off together alternating with channels 3 - 4 at a rate determined by the Rate Pot.
Mode 8 ­ Marquee Left to Right
Channels cycle on and off, one at a time from left to right at a rate determined by the Rate Pot.
Mode 9 ­ Knight Rider Effect
Channels raster 2 ­ 1 and 3 ­ 4 repeatedly at a rate determined by the Rate pot.
Mode 10 ­ Heartbeat
All channels will flash once, wait 2 seconds, flash twice, wait 1 second and then repeat continuously.
Mode 11 ­ Step Up
Channels step up 1 ­ 4. Each channel will come on for 4 seconds and then go off for 2 seconds before moving to next channel.
Mode 12 ­ Flash Marquee
Channels step up 1 ­ 4. Each Channel will flash on and then go off for 2 seconds before moving to next channel.
Mode 13 ­ LED Count Up
Channels come on one at a time at 2 second intervals until all 4 channels are on. Cycle then repeats.
Mode 14 ­ Random On
LEDs will randomly come on, one at a time at 2 second intervals until all LEDs are on, wait 2 seconds, go off and then repeat.
Mode 15 ­ Fire fly
LEDs will randomly flash twice.
Mode 16 ­ All Cycles
Board cycles through all 15 modes continuously

Programmable AC / Light Dimmer Controller

A unique programmable AC Voltage lighting dimmer controller. Board allows user to control a Solid State Dimmer (Crydom) that can control up to 20 Amps of AC voltage used in lighting or where variable AC Voltage is needed. There is a 4-Line by 16 Character back-lit LCD that is the user interface for programming the different modes of operation. There are 8 modes of operation available to the user. These modes are set up and initiated using a menu-driven display with input being made by 4 on board pushbuttons.
The board requires 12 to 24V DC @ 100 mA power supply.

Programmable Recording time - 10 Minutes
Some of the user modes include ramp up/down lighting Vdc full lighting on, power up and hold, variable programmable lighting effects and more.
Controller has remote trigger for remote activation,, onboard potentiomer to set and program variable lighting levels, Power On and Off switch, LED, sync port to trigger other boards connected. Wire terminal blocks, power jack for easy hook-up.
Programmable Master Controller and 20 Amp Solid-State Dimmer module included.

This small LED Effects Controller is designed to allow the control of 8 LED's in 8 different effects. There are 2 boards, a Main Board and a Remote board. These two boards are connected via a 2-foot long ribbon cable. The Main board is where power is connected and control of the Remote board takes place. On the Main board there is a potentiometer to control the speed of the selected effect and a Mode button that steps through the different effects, one at a time, when pressed.

9-VDC Power is attached to the board via a 2.1 mm barrel-type connector or the adjacent terminal block. The Remote board is where LED's are connected for the display. The Remote board has status LEDs mounted on it to show what effect is operating. Remote LEDs are connected to the terminal block associated with the on-board LED. There is a resistor network chip that can be sized by the user for the LED type that are used. The board comes with a 450 ohm bridge on board.

FX Modes:
The following modes are programmed on the Main Board:

Mode 1: Marquee Effect
The LEDs will cycle from 1-8 repeatedly at a rate set by the pot.
Mode 2: Cylon Effect
The LEDs will cycle from 1-8 and then 8-1 repeatedly at a rate set by the pot.
Mode 3: Knight Rider Effect
The LEDs will cycle in pairs - 1&5, 2&6, 3&7 and 4&8
Mode 4: Strobe Effect
The LEDs will all flash together at a rate determined by the pot.
Mode 5: Random Flash Effect
LED's will flash on/off randomly at a rate determined by the pot.
Mode 6: FireFly Effect
All LEDs will quickly flash twice, wait 3 seconds and then repeat.
Mode 7: Random Eye Effect
LEDs will randomly flash in pairs at a rate determined by the pot.
Mode 8: Heart Beat Effect
LEDs 1&2 will flash once, pause for X period, LEDs 3&4 will flash 2 times, wait for X period, LEDs 5&6 will flash 3 times, wait for X period, and LEDs 7&8 will flash 4 times, wait for X period, and then repeat. X Period will be determined by the pot.

Sound Activated 3-Color LED Driver Board

This board will take audio input (line-level) and divide the signal into 3 frequency ranges: High (~2250 - ~7500 Hz), Middle (~500 - ~1200 Hz) and Low (~125 - ~250 Hz). When any of these 3 frequencies are present, there will be 12V present at the corresponding output as indicated by the associated LED. Alternatively, these outputs are also available on a ribbon connector and can be used to drive high current Solid State Relays (5A max) 12V DC devices connect to the ribbon connector.

Sensitivity to the frequency ranges can be adjusted by the associated pots. Just tune to get the response that works best for you.

Power to the board is applied via the 2.1mm barrel connector or the adjacent terminal block. Audio is applied via the Audio Input stereo jack.
